Working closely with our residents and partners, we aim to build up to 500 new, high‑quality homes each year for rent and shared ownership. We also provide care and support services, including nursing care, Extra Care independent living and supported living – ensuring people can live well, safely and independently in homes that meet their needs.

More about the role: The Property Services, Internal Maintenance Service (IMS) are responsible for conducting high quality repairs and maintenance on our customers' homes across the geographical footprint of emh homes. As an Apprentice Joiner, you will work with qualified joiners on a day-to-day basis conducting joinery works and repairs in emh homes properties and other related properties. This will include working on planned refurbishment programmes, void property works, reactive works and cyclical programmes.

As part of this apprenticeship, you will work towards achieving a Level 2 City & Guilds qualification in Carpentry & Joinery equipping you with the essential skills, knowledge, and behaviours to succeed in your role. During your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to spend up to 4 working days a month at our PfP Thrive training academy based at 1 Centro Place, Derby DE24 8RF. This state‑of‑the‑art facility, supported by highly qualified instructors, will provide you with hands‑on training and guidance to help you excel in your position.

The working hours for this role are Monday – Thursday 8am – 4pm and Friday 8am – 3:30pm with half an hour unpaid lunch break each day. The apprenticeship programme will last for 2 years, during which you will develop practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and the confidence to take on various carpentry & joinery tasks. To complete the apprenticeship successfully, you will need to pass all required qualifications and assessments. This structured programme is designed to give you a strong foundation for a rewarding career in carpentry & joinery, ensuring you gain the experience and capabilities to thrive both during your apprenticeship and beyond.

We are looking to conduct interviews week commencing 6th July. We are committed to a safe working environment so a basic DBS check is mandatory. You will be attending PfP Thrive (1 Centro Place, Derby DE24 8RF) on a block release for training so will need to consider how you will get to and from this location. As a mobile worker, your hours of work are based on travel time to/from Longfield House. Apprentices who do not drive will need to be able to get to a pick‑up point i.e. Longfield House. More about you: The ideal candidate will understand the importance of delivering a customer focussed experience with great time management skills. Experience of working with IT packages such as Excel and working towards deadlines is also desired. In addition, you will be over 16, a permanent resident of England and not be in full time education. It is desirable to hold GCSE in Maths and English Grade 4-9. Experience or an interest in working within trades, excellent IT skills, time management skills, and stakeholder engagement are also beneficial.
