More about your role: The Senior Data Engineer role exists to lead on the design, build and maintenance of the data infrastructure that will power Places for People and the delivery of its business strategy. This role works with multiple teams (both business and cross functional project/IT) to ensure that data is available, reliable, and scalable, while also contributing to the development and delivery of our Data Strategy. The ideal candidate is a skilled data engineer who demonstrates strong technical proficiency and applies logical problem-solving to drive projects to completion.
Expertise in SQL and Python is essential, as is significant experience with DBT, GIT, and Terraform. The ability to quickly learn and adopt emerging technologies ensures continued alignment with the latest developments in our tech stack. This role requires creativity and innovation, along with the capacity to develop new solutions and produce reliable, efficient, and well-documented code. The candidate will assess challenges, determine optimal strategies, and present clear plans and accurate estimates to achieve successful, timely outcomes.
Experience & Skills:
- Data Engineering with a focus on ETL / ELT
- Languages: SQL and Python
- Tooling: DBT, GIT, Terraform, IAM, Composer (Airflow), Docker
- Platform: Strong preference - GCP (BigQuery); Minimum - Azure / AWS
- Documentation, change management, CI/CD
- Concepts: Data Mesh, Test Driven Design, Agile

More about you: Senior Data Engineers work in DevOps environments, troubleshooting issues with existing data pipelines whilst also building new pipelines as per business needs. They can lead on the resolution of complex requests and problems and provide expert advice on the capabilities of the Data Platform.
