More about your role

This role involves managing a caseload of pre-litigated housing disrepair claims in accordance with the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions Claims (England) and the Civil Procedure Rules, along with a smaller number of Environmental Protection Act (EPA) claims. The position requires liaising with internal teams to investigate claims, ensure timely completion of repairs, and review internal records to assess liability. You will also evaluate expert evidence and draft detailed 6.3 responses, ensuring compliance with the relevant legal frameworks.

The role demands strong legal and analytical skills, including keeping up to date with case law, legislation, and sector developments. You will be expected to instruct and collaborate with external solicitors, experts, and counsel, as well as negotiate settlements that balance legal, commercial, and reputational risks. Additionally, you will identify patterns and breaches through case reviews, contribute to preventative strategies, and maintain accurate cost records.

Beyond case management, the role contributes to continuous improvement by supporting training, policy development, and service enhancements. You will also assist the Disrepair Manager with tasks such as managing disclosure, liaising with external legal representatives, and attending court when required.

More about you

The role requires previous knowledge and experience in handling Housing Condition Claims and/or conducting disrepair surveys. Candidates must be able to work independently, demonstrating strong skills in meeting deadlines, planning and prioritising workloads, and solving problems. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as the position involves collaboration across various internal departments and interaction with external parties, including solicitors and customers.
