This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery and growth of our Carpentry & Joinery apprenticeship programme, helping to develop the next generation of skilled tradespeople. You will play a key role in equipping learners with the technical skills, behaviours and professional standards required to succeed within the construction and housing sectors. Drawing on your industry expertise, you will deliver high-quality practical and classroom-based training aligned to the Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery apprenticeship standard.

You will create engaging learning experiences that bring the trade to life, supporting learners to apply their knowledge confidently within workshop and workplace environments. You will monitor and track learner progress, attendance and achievement, using data effectively to identify risks and implement timely interventions that maximise outcomes. Throughout the learner journey, you will provide coaching, guidance and constructive feedback, supporting apprentices to develop their competence and confidence.

Working collaboratively with employers, workplace mentors and colleagues, you will build strong relationships that enhance the learner experience and ensure training remains relevant to industry practice. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum, ensuring it reflects sector needs and supports high-quality delivery. You will embed safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion throughout your practice, creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment for all. In addition, you will play an active role in shaping and growing the Carpentry & Joinery programme, contributing to continuous improvement and positive learner outcomes. This role is based in Derby, with travel to other sites as required.

Essential Criteria
  • Significant occupational experience in Carpentry & Joinery.
  • Experience of assessing apprenticeship programmes and reviewing learner evidence.
  • Understanding of apprenticeship funding rules, DfE compliance requirements and Ofsted expectations.
  • Holds a relevant Carpentry & Joinery qualification.
  • Holds, or is working towards, a recognised teaching and/or assessor qualification (e.g. AET, PTLLS, TAQA or equivalent).
  • Experience of supporting learners, including tracking progress, identifying risks and implementing interventions to improve outcomes.
  • Ability to deliver engaging practical and classroom-based learning experiences.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

You bring strong hands-on experience in carpentry and joinery and are passionate about sharing your skills to support the development of others. Combining technical credibility with a learner-focused approach, you are able to deliver engaging training that builds confidence and competence. You have a good understanding of apprenticeship delivery, including compliance, safeguarding and quality standards, and are confident in managing learner progress to achieve positive outcomes.

You are skilled at supporting a diverse range of learners, adapting your approach to meet individual needs and creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Collaborative and proactive, you work effectively with employers, mentors and colleagues to ensure learning is relevant, impactful and aligned to workplace expectations. You are organised and able to manage multiple priorities, maintaining high standards of delivery while supporting learner success.
