We are looking for a Young Person Homeless Support Worker to join our team in South Shields to work across our scheme to support Customers who have a range of needs and are at risk of being homeless. You will support Customers with the continued, safe provision of accommodation in our schemes. You will be working closely with our Customers to develop and deliver support and intensive housing management services to vulnerable people living in temporary dispersed accommodation across the area. A car is essential for this role and you will receive an essential car user allowance and mileage expenses.
The role will involve working with a small caseload of Customers, Group employees and outside agencies and professionals to deliver a holistic service that is of the highest standard. You will play a key role in signing up new Customers to the service and in providing advice and guidance with the welfare/benefit system. You will be responsible for the maintenance of the scheme including carrying out risk assessments and other health and safety monitoring as well as working closely with the housing management team regarding repairs, voids and maintenance. This post is subject to a satisfactory disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

You will have experience working in potentially challenging situations, resilience is a key character trait for this role. Ideally, you will have local knowledge to share with our customers. You should have a good knowledge of housing management best practice, the letting procedures and tenancy compliance. It is imperative that you have previous experience supporting a vulnerable client group. Ideally, you will be a confident I.T. user who is a confident communicator that can influence in a positive manner when required. A good knowledge of the benefits system would be desirable but not essential.
