About the Role
Our client, a well-established engineering consultancy renowned for its work on significant commercial and industrial structures across **Gauteng**, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer for their **Randburg** office. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and analysis of commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings.
- Develop detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications using relevant software and standards.
- Perform complex structural modeling and analysis for various load conditions and materials (steel, concrete, masonry).
- Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure structural integrity.
- Collaborate with architectural and multidisciplinary teams to integrate structural elements into overall project design.
- Ensure designs comply with South African National Standards (SANS), building codes, and relevant safety regulations.
- Manage project timelines and budgets for structural engineering deliverables.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior structural engineers and designers.
- Review shop drawings and respond to construction site queries.
- Maintain client relationships and participate in project meetings.
Requirements
- BEng or BSc in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
- Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is required.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design.
- Proven track record in designing substantial commercial and industrial structures.
- Expertise in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, Revit Structure, SAFE).
- In-depth knowledge of concrete, steel, and timber design principles according to SANS codes.
- Strong understanding of construction methods and materials.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead project teams and manage complex design challenges.
- Experience in liaising with clients, authorities, and contractors.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to conduct site visits.
