About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead design initiatives within their consulting practice located in Randburg , Gauteng . This role involves taking ownership of complex electrical design projects, from conceptualization and feasibility studies through to detailed design and project support during construction. You will mentor a team of engineers, drive technical excellence, and ensure designs meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and sustainability. This is an ideal position for a seasoned professional looking to take on greater responsibility and shape the future of electrical design in a leading consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design process for a variety of projects, including commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments.
- Develop detailed electrical system designs, schematics, single-line diagrams, and specifications.
- Perform complex calculations for load flow, short-circuit analysis, and protection coordination.
- Conduct site investigations and technical reviews to ensure design integrity.
- Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers and designers.
- Liaise with clients, authorities, and other consultants to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical design consulting .
- Proficiency in industry-standard electrical design software and analysis tools (e.g., DIALux, ETAP).
- Extensive knowledge of power systems, distribution, protection, and earthing design.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is essential.
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities.
