About the Role
Our client, a prominent organization within the media and information sector, is seeking an experienced Public Affairs Specialist to join their strategic team in Randburg, Gauteng . This role is crucial for managing and enhancing the company's engagement with government entities, policymakers, industry associations, and the broader public sphere. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of regulatory environments, public policy, and effective communication strategies for influencing public opinion and policy outcomes. You will be responsible for monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, building relationships with key stakeholders, and advocating for the company's interests. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement public affairs strategies to support the company's objectives.
- Monitor government policies, legislation, and regulatory changes impacting the media industry.
- Build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and industry leaders.
- Represent the company in relevant industry associations and public forums.
- Prepare position papers, briefing materials, and presentations on public policy issues.
- Advise senior management on public affairs matters and potential risks or opportunities.
- Coordinate grassroots advocacy efforts and public engagement initiatives.
- Manage the company's response to public policy inquiries and consultations.
- Organize and facilitate meetings and events with key stakeholders.

Requirements
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, policy analysis, or a related field, preferably within the media or technology sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes in South Africa .
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with government stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and advocacy capabilities.
- Experience in developing advocacy strategies and managing public campaigns.
- Strong understanding of the media industry and its policy landscape.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex environment.
- Proficiency in research and data analysis.
- Discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
