About the Role
Our client, a forward-thinking agricultural technology company, is seeking a highly skilled Precision Agriculture Specialist to join their team in Randburg . This role involves implementing and managing cutting-edge technologies on farms to optimize crop production, resource management, and overall efficiency. You will work closely with farmers, providing technical expertise on GPS guidance, variable rate application, drone technology, and data analysis. This hybrid position combines on-site field work with remote data interpretation and client support, driving innovation in modern farming practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and manage precision agriculture systems, including GPS guidance, auto-steer, and variable rate technology.
- Operate and maintain specialized agricultural equipment, such as drones and sensors, for data collection.
- Analyze farm data (yield maps, soil data, imagery) to provide actionable insights and recommendations to farmers.
- Train farmers and farm staff on the use of precision agriculture technologies and software.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to hardware and software in the field and remotely.
Requirements
- Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Geomatics, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience with precision farming technologies, data analysis, and farm management software.
- Proficiency in operating and interpreting data from drones, sensors, and GPS equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into practical advice.
- Excellent communication and training skills, comfortable working in a hybrid capacity.
