About the Role
Our client is looking for an innovative Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist with expertise in Oral Solid Dosage forms to join their growing R&D team in Randburg . This role focuses on the development of robust and scalable formulations for tablets and capsules, from early-stage feasibility to tech transfer. You will be instrumental in designing formulations that ensure optimal drug delivery, bioavailability, and manufacturing efficiency, while adhering to strict quality and regulatory standards. The position requires a strong understanding of pharmaceutical sciences, excipient functionality, and processing technologies, offering a stimulating environment to contribute to the development of life-changing medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop new oral solid dosage formulations (tablets, capsules) for various therapeutic areas.
- Conduct pre-formulation studies, including API characterization, solubility enhancement, and excipient compatibility.
- Formulate and optimize formulations considering manufacturability, stability, and bioavailability.
- Utilize laboratory equipment for granulation, compression, coating, and other formulation processes.
- Perform dissolution testing and other quality control analyses to assess formulation performance.
- Prepare detailed formulation development reports and contribute to regulatory submission documentation.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, specifically with oral solid dosage forms.
- Solid understanding of drug-excipient interactions, powder technology, and manufacturing processes for tablets and capsules.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques relevant to solid dosage form characterization.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced R&D environment.
