About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join their IT infrastructure team in Randburg. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of the company's local and wide-area networks (LAN/WAN). You will ensure network availability, performance, and security, working with a variety of network hardware and software. This position requires strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills, with the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects within a collaborative office environment. We are dedicated to maintaining a reliable and secure network to support our business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and deploy network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
- Manage network capacity planning and ensure optimal network utilization.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and standards.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate network services with other systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in network engineering or administration.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and network security principles.
- Experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and packet analysis.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are advantageous.
