About the Role

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components for renewable energy applications (e.g., solar trackers, wind turbine parts, energy storage systems).
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
- Perform structural analysis, thermal analysis, and dynamic simulations to ensure design integrity and performance under various environmental conditions.
- Collaborate with electrical, controls, and project engineers to integrate mechanical designs into complete energy systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, BOMs, and testing procedures.
- Oversee prototype development and testing, analyzing results and implementing design improvements.
- Troubleshoot mechanical design issues and provide solutions for manufacturing and field operations.
- Research and evaluate new materials and technologies to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of renewable energy systems.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations for the renewable energy sector.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of the company's product portfolio.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a focus on renewable energy systems preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (FEA, CFD).
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, and structural analysis.
- Experience with design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to design challenges.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Familiarity with the renewable energy industry and its specific challenges.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in Randburg, Gauteng.
- Experience with project management is a plus.
