Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule daily delivery routes for a fleet of vehicles.
- Assign drivers to specific routes and vehicles, ensuring compliance with regulations and schedules.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, providing them with necessary dispatch information and updates.
- Track the progress of deliveries in real-time, addressing any delays or issues promptly.
- Liaise with the warehouse team to ensure orders are ready for dispatch on time.
- Prepare and manage all dispatch documentation, including delivery manifests and proof of delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of driver hours, vehicle maintenance, and delivery performance.
- Ensure compliance with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Handle customer inquiries related to delivery schedules and status.
- Optimize routes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Logistics Dispatcher, Fleet Coordinator, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of dispatch operations, route planning, and transportation management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in dispatch software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Knowledge of Gauteng road networks and traffic patterns is a significant advantage.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts as required by operational needs.
- A relevant qualification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is a plus.
