About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Process Engineer to spearhead process development and optimization initiatives within their specialty chemicals division in Randburg .
This senior role involves leading a team of engineers and technicians, driving innovation in process design, scale-up, and troubleshooting for complex chemical products.
You will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and economic viability of production processes, working closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance departments.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and proven leadership capabilities, committed to advancing the company's capabilities in the competitive specialty chemicals market, ensuring robust and scalable manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of process engineers and technicians in process design, development, and optimization.
- Oversee the scale-up of new chemical processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial scale.
- Develop and implement innovative process improvements to enhance yield, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Conduct rigorous process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with R&D to translate new chemical discoveries into viable manufacturing processes.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for process engineering initiatives.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph D in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in specialty chemicals or process development.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in chemical process engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive experience in process design, scale-up, and troubleshooting of complex chemical reactions.
- Proficiency with process simulation tools and statistical analysis software.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols and environmental compliance in the chemical industry.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
