About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and analytical Game Systems Designer to join their innovative remote team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and refining the core gameplay systems that define the player experience. This includes mechanics, rulesets, progression systems, and economic models for exciting new game titles. You will collaborate closely with other designers, engineers, and artists to ensure that systems are intuitive, balanced, and deeply engaging, contributing to unique and memorable gameplay loops that resonate with players across the globe.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, document, and iterate on core gameplay systems, including mechanics, combat, progression, and economy.
- Balance game systems to ensure fair, challenging, and rewarding player experiences.
- Collaborate with level designers to integrate systems effectively into the game world and player progression.
- Work with engineers to implement and test systems, ensuring they function as designed and meet performance requirements.
- Analyze player data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and refine systems post-launch.
- Stay current with industry trends and player expectations for game systems design.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Game Systems Designer or similar role, with a portfolio showcasing system design work.
- Strong understanding of game design principles, player psychology, and engagement loops.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically about complex systems.
- Proficiency in documenting designs clearly and concisely.
- Experience with scripting languages or visual scripting tools is a plus.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective remote teamwork.
