About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Farm Machinery Operator to join their agricultural team in Randburg . This role is critical for efficiently carrying out various field operations, including land preparation, planting, cultivation, and harvesting. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining a range of farm machinery, such as tractors, combines, planters, and other specialized equipment, ensuring their optimal performance and safety. The ideal candidate possesses a strong mechanical aptitude, a proven track record in operating heavy farm equipment, and a commitment to safety and precision. This position is essential for maximizing productivity and efficiency on the farm.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tractors, ploughs, planters, harvesters, and other agricultural machinery safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on machinery, including lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Follow detailed operational plans and instructions for fieldwork, ensuring accuracy in planting, spraying, and harvesting.
- Monitor machinery performance and identify any issues or malfunctions, reporting them promptly.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while operating machinery on the farm.
- Assist with loading and unloading of materials and produce as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Farm Machinery Operator or similar role operating heavy equipment.
- Proficiency in operating a variety of agricultural machinery, including tractors with attachments, harvesters, and sprayers.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Valid driver's license; a heavy vehicle license may be advantageous.
- Understanding of farm operations and crop cycles.
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and operational efficiency.
