About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Community Relations Officer to foster strong relationships between their mining operations and surrounding communities. While based in Randburg , this role is designed to be predominantly remote, requiring significant travel to various project sites and community engagement points across different regions. You will be the primary liaison, responsible for understanding community needs, communicating project impacts and benefits, and managing stakeholder expectations. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of social development principles, and a proven track record in stakeholder engagement, particularly within the context of large-scale industrial projects and the mining industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement community engagement strategies aligned with project objectives and social license to operate.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with local community leaders, government officials, and civil society organizations.
- Facilitate community consultations, information sessions, and feedback mechanisms.
- Identify and address community concerns, grievances, and needs related to mining operations.
- Contribute to the development and management of community development programs and initiatives.
- Prepare regular reports on community engagement activities, stakeholder feedback, and social impact assessments.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or social development, preferably within the mining or resources sector .
- Proven ability to manage sensitive stakeholder relationships and navigate complex social dynamics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Willingness and ability to undertake frequent travel to various project sites.
- Familiarity with social impact assessment processes and community development frameworks.
