About the Role
Our client, a dynamic and growing educational publishing house based in East London, Eastern Cape, is seeking a talented Senior Educational Content Writer. This role involves crafting high-quality, engaging, and accurate educational materials for various subjects and age groups. The Senior Content Writer will be responsible for conceptualizing, writing, and editing content for textbooks, digital learning platforms, workbooks, and assessments, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards and pedagogical best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and proofread educational content for textbooks, e-learning modules, and other learning materials.
- Develop engaging and age-appropriate content across a range of subjects and grade levels.
- Ensure all content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with relevant national curriculum frameworks.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and editors to ensure content quality and pedagogical soundness.
- Conceptualize and develop creative approaches to present educational information effectively.
- Adhere to style guides and maintain a consistent tone and voice across all content produced.
- Participate in content review meetings and provide constructive feedback.
- Manage multiple writing projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Contribute to the development of new content strategies and formats.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in educational writing, content creation, or curriculum development.
- Proven ability to write clear, concise, and engaging educational content for diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of pedagogical principles and curriculum design.
- Excellent research, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Familiarity with South African curriculum standards is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using content management systems or digital publishing tools is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage project timelines effectively.
- A portfolio of writing samples demonstrating expertise in educational content creation is required.
- Must be based in or able to commute regularly to East London.
