About the Role Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Research Associate with a strong background in Molecular Biology to join their research laboratory in East London . This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to significant scientific projects, performing a variety of experiments and supporting senior researchers. You will gain hands‑on experience with modern molecular biology techniques and contribute to the advancement of our client's research goals. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and eager to learn and grow within a supportive R&D environment in the Eastern Cape .
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine molecular biology experiments, including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, and cloning.
- Maintain cell cultures and perform cell‑based assays as directed by senior scientific staff.
- Assist in the design and execution of experiments, troubleshoot protocols, and maintain accurate laboratory notebooks.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and media required for experimental procedures.
- Contribute to data analysis, interpretation, and the preparation of study reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science field.
- 1-3 years of laboratory experience, preferably in a molecular biology or biotechnology setting.
- Proficiency in essential molecular biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA/RNA manipulation.
- Experience with sterile techniques and cell culture is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
