Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components for automotive powertrains (e.g., engines, transmissions, drivelines) using advanced CAD software.
- Perform detailed stress, thermal, and vibration analysis using FEA tools to optimize component performance and durability.
- Create and maintain precise 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Collaborate effectively with remote simulation engineers, manufacturing specialists, and vehicle integration teams.
- Ensure designs meet all performance, durability, safety, and regulatory requirements for automotive applications.
- Specify materials and select components based on performance requirements and manufacturing feasibility.
- Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities, addressing design-related challenges.
- Contribute to design reviews and DFMEA processes to ensure product quality.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in automotive powertrain design.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on automotive powertrain components.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5, SolidWorks) and experience with FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
- In-depth knowledge of engine, transmission, or driveline systems.
- Understanding of automotive materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards (e.g., IATF 16949).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong communication skills and experience working effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and deliver results independently.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is highly valued.
