About the Role
Our client, a national logistics provider, is seeking a skilled and organized Logistics Dispatcher to manage regional transport operations from their hub in East London, Eastern Cape . This role is vital for coordinating and scheduling the movement of goods, ensuring efficient routing, timely deliveries, and effective communication with drivers and customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of transport logistics, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced dispatch environment. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch vehicles for local and regional deliveries.
- Optimize delivery routes to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to schedules.
- Monitor driver activities and vehicle status throughout their routes.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, providing clear instructions and support.
- Liaise with customers to confirm delivery schedules and address any logistical queries.
- Track shipments and provide real-time updates on delivery progress.
- Respond promptly to any transportation issues, delays, or emergencies, implementing solutions.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records, including delivery times, routes, and driver logs.
- Ensure compliance with all transport regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with warehouse and operations teams to ensure smooth coordination of goods movement.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Logistics Dispatcher, Transport Coordinator, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) and routing software.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the Eastern Cape region and surrounding areas.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- A good understanding of vehicle maintenance and driver regulations is advantageous.
- Must be able to work a hybrid schedule and be based in or able to commute to East London .
- Demonstrated ability to maintain calm and effective communication during stressful situations.
