About the Role
Our client, an emerging production company in Queenstown , is seeking a passionate and driven Junior Film Director to join their creative ranks. This is an entry-level directorial position where you will assist senior directors and take the lead on smaller projects, gaining invaluable experience in all facets of filmmaking. You will be involved in developing concepts, writing scripts, directing actors and crew, and overseeing the post-production process. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring filmmaker to hone their craft, contribute fresh perspectives, and build a significant portfolio within the Eastern Cape's growing creative industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior directors on set, learning and contributing to the filmmaking process.
- Take the lead in directing actors and crew for short films, commercials, or promotional content.
- Develop creative concepts and scripts, translating ideas into compelling visual narratives.
- Participate in storyboarding, shot planning, and location scouting.
- Oversee editing, sound design, and color grading during post-production.
- Collaborate effectively with producers, cinematographers, and other key personnel.
Requirements
- A strong portfolio of short films, student projects, or relevant creative work demonstrating directorial potential.
- Understanding of filmmaking principles, including narrative structure, camera work, and editing techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for directing actors and managing a crew.
- Passion for storytelling and a keen eye for visual aesthetics.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing production needs.
- Degree in Film Studies, Media Production, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
