About the Role
Our client is looking for an ambitious and detail-oriented Junior Corporate Lawyer to join their legal team in East London . This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a broad range of corporate and commercial legal matters, supporting the more senior members of the legal department. You will assist in drafting agreements, conducting legal research, managing corporate records, and supporting transactional work. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, possess strong foundational legal knowledge, and is keen to develop their career in corporate law within the vibrant business community of the Eastern Cape .
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts and corporate documents.
- Conduct legal research on various corporate and commercial law issues.
- Maintain corporate registers and ensure compliance with company secretarial duties.
- Support senior lawyers in M&A transactions, due diligence, and other corporate activities.
- Assist with the preparation of board resolutions and other corporate governance documents.
- Liaise with clients and external counsel as directed by senior legal staff.
Requirements
- Admitted Attorney with up to 3 years post-qualification experience in corporate or commercial law.
- Solid understanding of South African corporate law principles.
- Strong research, analytical, and drafting skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in legal research databases and standard office software.
- A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and contribute within a team in East London .
