About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to their significant projects in East London . You will be responsible for analyzing the site conditions and providing recommendations for foundations, earthworks, and slope stability. This role involves planning and conducting site investigations, laboratory testing, and developing geotechnical designs to ensure the stability and safety of construction projects. You will work closely with structural engineers, civil engineers, and construction teams to address complex ground-related challenges, ensuring the integrity of the built environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise site investigations, including drilling, soil sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to determine ground characteristics.
- Provide design recommendations for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with slope stability, subsidence, and seismic activity.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and present findings to clients and project teams.
- Liaise with contractors to ensure proper implementation of geotechnical recommendations during construction.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical specialization.
- Professional registration with ECSA is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical investigation and design.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and modeling (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
