About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Field Production Chemist to support their upstream operations in the Queenstown area within the Oil & Gas industry . This hands-on role is crucial for optimizing production processes and ensuring the quality of produced fluids through effective chemical management and analysis. You will be responsible for the application of production chemicals, troubleshooting chemical-related issues, and monitoring their performance in wells and facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of oilfield chemistry and a practical approach to problem-solving, working closely with production engineers and field staff to maintain efficient and reliable operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and manage chemical treatment programs for oil and gas wells, including scale, corrosion, and paraffin inhibition.
- Monitor the effectiveness of chemical treatments through regular sampling and analysis of produced fluids.
- Troubleshoot production problems related to fluid properties, emulsions, and scaling.
- Recommend appropriate chemical solutions and dosages based on reservoir and production conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, performance, and costs.
- Collaborate with production engineers and field personnel to optimize chemical application and address operational challenges.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of all chemicals used in operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related science discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Production Chemist or related role in the Oil & Gas industry , preferably in field operations.
- Solid understanding of oilfield production chemistry, including scale formation, corrosion mechanisms, and demulsification.
- Experience with laboratory analysis of oil, gas, and water samples.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed recommendations.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote field environment.
