About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive Corporate Legal Advisor to join their team in East London . This role is integral to providing comprehensive legal support for the company's corporate activities, including governance, compliance, and commercial transactions. You will collaborate closely with senior management and various business units to offer strategic legal counsel and ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations within South Africa . This position offers a challenging opportunity within a respected organization in the Eastern Cape , operating under a hybrid work arrangement that balances office presence with remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice on corporate governance, shareholder matters, and board directives.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including partnership, supply, and service contracts.
- Ensure the company's compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Assist in managing corporate reorganizations, mergers, and acquisitions, including due diligence processes.
- Conduct legal research and provide insights on evolving legal landscapes affecting the business.
- Support the legal department in managing litigation and dispute resolution effectively.
Requirements
- Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 6 years of experience in corporate and commercial law.
- Strong background in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Proficiency in corporate governance principles and South African company law.
- Experience with mergers, acquisitions, or corporate restructuring is highly advantageous.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to assess risk.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for a hybrid work model .
