About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the agricultural produce distribution sector, is seeking a dynamic Agricultural Supply Chain Manager to optimize their operations in East London, Eastern Cape . This role is critical for ensuring the efficient, timely, and cost-effective flow of agricultural products from farm to market. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, extensive knowledge of logistics, inventory management, and a deep understanding of the agricultural supply chain nuances. You will be responsible for managing relationships with suppliers, transportation providers, and customers, ensuring the highest standards of quality and freshness are maintained. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of the agricultural supply chain, including procurement, inventory management, warehousing, and transportation.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and improve delivery times for perishable agricultural goods.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with farmers, cooperatives, suppliers, and logistics partners.
• Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) with suppliers and transportation providers.
• Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and manage stock rotation to minimize spoilage and waste.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations, quality standards, and traceability requirements.
• Utilize supply chain management software and data analytics to track performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
• Manage the logistics of product distribution to various markets, ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to align supply chain activities with market demand and promotional campaigns.
• Lead and motivate a team of supply chain professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in supply chain management, with a significant focus on the agricultural or food industry.
• Proven experience in managing logistics, inventory control, and supplier relationships.
• Strong understanding of the unique challenges of managing perishable goods supply chains.
• Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
• Good understanding of quality control and food safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed within the Eastern Cape region and to supplier locations.
