Shape the Future of Engineering at IRIS. We're looking for an exceptional engineering leader to take ownership of a strategic pillar within our Global Accountancy division. As Director, Engineering (Level 7), you'll play a critical leadership role in driving engineering excellence, delivery predictability, platform modernization, and AI enabled innovation across our product portfolio. This is a highly visible leadership position where you'll influence engineering strategy, partner closely with Product and Architecture, and help shape the future direction of our technology organisation.
This role offers a unique opportunity to impact how IRIS delivers value to thousands of customers while helping define the next generation of cloud-native, AI-enabled accounting solutions.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
- Leading a strategic engineering function within the Global Accountancy business
- Driving engineering excellence across delivery, quality, scalability and operational performance
- Partnering with Product, Architecture and Commercial teams to deliver customer-focused outcomes
- Establishing consistent engineering standards, governance and software development practices
- Driving platform efficiency, automation and AI adoption across the software development lifecycle
- Leading and developing high-performing engineering teams across multiple products and technologies
- Ensuring secure, resilient and compliant SaaS platforms
- Shaping long-term technology strategy, modernization and cloud transformation initiatives
- Acting as a technology thought leader across IRIS and with key external stakeholders.
What We're Looking For:
- A current Director, Senior Director or Head of Engineering operating within a complex software organisation
- An experienced SaaS technology leader with a track record of scaling engineering teams and platforms
- Deeply familiar with modern cloud technologies, particularly AWS and/or Azure
- Comfortable operating across engineering, product, commercial and operational environments
- Experienced in Agile, Platform Engineering, DevOps and Site Reliability practices
- Passionate about developing people, building capability and creating high-performing cultures
- Commercially astute and customer focused
- Excited by the opportunities AI presents to transform engineering effectiveness and customer outcomes.
