The Clearing & Payments department supports the Bank in a back office capacity, supporting the bank’s operational processing for various banking products, working with retail branches and Front office teams to support London Branch and Subsidiary customers. As an Assistant - Payments & Reconciliations (Exchange Business Services), you will play a key role in ensuring the Bank meets its obligations as a clearing member and settlement bank. You will support with day-to-day operations and contribute to system testing and upgrade activities. This is a permanent full-time position.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure all daily tasks within Exchange Business Services are processed accurately and on time, and in line with client and counterparty expectations.
- Perform reconciliations, support payment processing activities, manage collateral, calculate collateral requirements for the Bank and its clients, and book trades into internal systems.
- Carry out RMB clearing business in extended service hours.
- Assist in the preparation and periodic review of standard operating procedures for CCP and Settlement Bank Services.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), functional testing, and the implementation of system updates.
- Support the resolution of issues identified during daily operations.
- Prepare business statistics (MI) for team and department.
- Be responsible for daily record keeping and filing.
- Liaise with other institutions within the group and related external third parties.
- Assist with projects where required.
The role requires working a shift pattern, including 07:30-15:30, 9:00-17:00, and 14:00-22:00, including some bank holidays.
Requirements
- Degree educated in Finance, Economics, Accounting or other relevant subject.
- Reconciliation and Payments experience within the Financial Services industry.
- Knowledge of Murex, RTGS payment systems, SWIFT, treasury products, and CCP portals.
- Familiarity with risk management, including collateral management workflows.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluency in Mandarin is preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Attention to detail.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills.
