Shape the Future of Online Education. Do you believe that every young person deserves access to an exceptional education, regardless of geography, background, or personal circumstance? At Minerva’s Virtual Academy (MVA), we are pioneering a new model of schooling - flexible, inclusive, and deeply personal. Since our launch in December 2020, we’ve become the fastest-growing DfE-accredited independent online school in the UK, transforming the way students aged 11–18 learn and thrive online. Our success has been recognised with multiple awards and accredited memberships such as COBIS.

As part of our mission to make world-class education truly global, we’ve recently expanded into the Gulf Standard Time (GST) zone, offering a full, live British curriculum tailored to students in the Middle East and beyond. With a dedicated teaching team aligned to GST hours, students in this region can now access our award-winning academic model in real time, supported by the same high standards of care, flexibility, and individual attention.

We now invite applications for the role of Vice Principal (Academic), a critical leadership post at the heart of our innovative and ambitious school. Supported by our Global Education Advisory Board (GEAB), comprising experts in AI, cybersecurity, and international educational leadership, you’ll benefit from their global insight and guidance to help drive best practices and continuous improvement across the school.

About the Role: As Vice Principal (Academic), you will play a central role in ensuring the academic success of every student. Reporting to the Principal, you will lead on curriculum strategy, assessment, teaching standards, and the academic development of our pupils across all key stages. You’ll work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive innovation and quality across the school’s educational provision.

This is a strategic and hands-on position suited to someone who:

  • Is an experienced and thoughtful leader in education, with a deep understanding of curriculum design, assessment, and high-quality teaching.
  • Has a clear vision for what academic excellence looks like in a flexible, student-led online environment.
  • Demonstrates emotional intelligence, strong communication skills, and the ability to build trust with staff, students, and parents.
  • Is highly organised, forward-thinking, and comfortable with digital systems and remote learning tools.
  • Brings a collaborative mindset and is eager to contribute to the wider development of our growing school.

Some teaching responsibilities will form part of this role and will be tailored to the successful candidate's expertise and availability.

Why Join MVA? We’re not just another school. We’re building a better way to educate. At MVA, you’ll join a warm, forward-thinking team committed to student well-being and academic achievement in equal measure. With a faculty team of over 150 employees, 97% of our staff say they enjoy working and are well supported at MVA and are well communicated with by the senior leadership team. 99% of staff say they are treated fairly and with respect.

What we offer:

  • A fully remote working model and flexible working (with the option to work from our London office if preferred).
  • A supportive, close-knit team with quarterly in-person meetups and socials.
  • A school that values innovation, inclusion, and genuine care.
  • A high-spec laptop for professional use.
  • Opportunities to make a meaningful contribution during an exciting phase of growth.
  • Professional growth opportunities are available through our membership of COBIS, the Independent Schools Association and HMC.
