Job Opportunity: Quantity Surveyor – Major Defence Infrastructure Project (Barrow-in-Furness)A leading UK contractor specialising in complex roofing and cladding systems is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join a high-value defence infrastructure project in Barrow-in-Furness.The Role:This is a significant opportunity to work as part of a Principal Contractor team delivering the full replacement of large-scale roofing and cladding systems on a £60 million project. You’ll be working closely with the end client and will play a key role in the commercial delivery of this critical programme.Key Responsibilities:Full pre- and post-contract quantity surveying dutiesSubcontractor management, procurement and cost reportingChange management and commercial reportingActive involvement in client meetings and approvals processesCollaborate with design and delivery teams under tight project demandsWhat We\’re Looking For:Experience on large-scale projects (ideally £20m+), particularly in defence, industrial, or high-security environmentsMain contracting background – you understand the structure, pace, and demands of project deliveryStrong commercial acumen and ability to work under pressureExperience dealing with detailed approvals processes and compliance proceduresFamiliarity with working in secure or controlled environments is advantageousUK passport required (due to site clearance requirements)Preferred Background:Defence infrastructure, secure facilities, or heavy industrial projectsPrevious experience in Barrow-in-Furness or similar project locationsStrong personality and team fit – you\’ll be expected to challenge constructively and think commerciallyThis is more than just a QS role – it’s a chance to be part of a high-performing team on a nationally significant project, where your input will directly shape project outcomes.If you have the experience, mindset, and drive to succeed in a high-stakes delivery environment, we want to hear from you.
