The Role
Reporting into a talented Managing Director, your role will involve business partnering closely with multiple stakeholders to report on the financial performance of the business and their projects. As such, you’ll be responsible for the management accounts while also contributing to forecasting and royalties processing for one specific brand/programme within the business. While you’d be working independently on this project in a dedicated, smaller team, you’ll have the support of a larger team within the group function of the business.
The ideal candidate will have some exposure to royalties or commission structures and be a steady pair of hands to support the wider team. The business uses Sage, so familiarity with that software is important. Stakeholder management and the ability to communicate financial data to non-financial minds is highly favoured here. Additionally, the client is looking for someone keen to dive in and contribute with a confident approach. A passion for the creative industries is important too!
This role has the option of being fully remote, or flexible hybrid if you’d like to come in-person to their London offices. This is a part-time position, with 3 working days per week expected. The client can be flexible with which days are worked, or whether working hours are split into half days (super beneficial for parents!).
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including commentary on variances, project performance, and overheads
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, balance sheet reconciliations, and profit and loss projections
- Produce financial reports and analysis for senior management and stakeholders as required
- Liaise with production teams and external partners (e.g., broadcasters, distributors) to manage production budgets, milestone payments, and financial reporting schedules
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing and payment runs
- Process payroll
- Lead the year-end close process, prepare audit packs, and coordinate all external audit activities
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and oversee the preparation of HMRC animation tax relief claims, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant
- Oversee preparation and reconciliation of royalty statements for broadcasters and IP partners, including digital and licensing revenues
- Identify and drive continuous improvement in finance systems, reporting tools, and operational processes
- Ad hoc tasks to support the MD and Senior Stakeholders
What We Need to See (Essential)
- Experience using Sage
- Ability to communicate with non-finance minded stakeholders
What We’d Like to See (Bonus)
