Network Engineer (Contract) – London, UK GFO-X is seeking a Network Engineer to join our growing team in London, UK.GFO-X is the UK\’s first regulated and centrally cleared trading venue dedicated to digital asset derivatives.Role:Deployment and configuration of Exchange networking infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewallsWorking with products from Cisco, Arista, FS.com, FortinetSecond-line support of exchange infrastructureMonitoring and improving the availability, resiliency, and performance of the exchange networking infrastructure.Monitoring platform capacity and identifying where we may have insufficient headroomSupport of the Trading Platform Support and Exchange Operations teams to assist in daily exchange operations and resolving operational issuesWorking with the Security team to implement corporate security policies to ensure our IT environments adhere to internal and industry-standard policies and practicesContributing to out-of-hours market rehearsals and test sessionsPropose and lead projects that improve our test and production environmentsCreate and maintain technical documentationContribution to Exchange design and architecture discussionsWork shifts and on-call as may be requiredRequirements:At least 5 years of experience in administering and deploying network solutions in similar industries — ideally with experience in a high-frequency or market-making environmentExperience in configuring and managing resilient, low-latency environments is particularly welcomeDemonstratable skills with standard network protocols: OSPF, BGP, BFD, VRRP, HSRP, RSTPWorking knowledge of multicast architecture and protocols including PIM-SM and IGMP v2Experience in the configuration of multi-VRF environmentsExposure to configuring the Zabbix monitoring platform or similarFamiliarity with firewall appliance management (Fortinet preferred)Hands-on experience with identifying and mitigating platform security issues and threatsVery strong problem-solving skills and a sense of ownership of their domainDemonstrable continuous learning and acquisition of new skillsSelf-starter and independent, able to work within a team. Detail-oriented with a structured approach to managing workloadCapable of interacting with different teams throughout the organization and with external clients to identify/resolve technical issues in a professional and effective mannerAbility to write clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for processes and systemsExperience in managing vendorsExperience in proposing and evaluating new hardware and software solutionsStrong command of spoken and written EnglishPrevious working experience in a Financial Services/FinTech environment, or similar high-pressure industry.This role is to be based at our London office headquarters.
