About the Company
Heriot Brown is working with a leading international insurance group to find a Senior Legal Counsel to join their growing in-house legal team. This role will support a dynamic and well-established specialty broking business within the group.
This is a high-impact position offering the opportunity to lead a small legal team, act as a senior escalation point, and provide commercially focused legal advice to the wider business.
About the Role
Reporting into the General Counsel, you’ll be responsible for managing and mentoring a small legal team, while advising on complex legal and commercial matters across the business. The work is broad in scope and includes commercial contracts, cross-border regulatory issues, and risk management.
You’ll collaborate closely with senior stakeholders, drive improvements in legal processes, and help shape the legal function’s impact on the wider business. Experience in the Lloyd’s market or dealing with E&O claims would be particularly valuable.
Who Are You?
- UK-qualified lawyer with 7+ years' PQE, ideally with a mix of private practice and in-house experience
- Strong background in insurance law, ideally with London Market or Lloyd’s experience
- Exposure to E&O claims or insurance broking is a strong advantage
- Commercially minded and confident engaging with senior leadership
- Ready to step into a broader, more strategic role with people leadership responsibilities
