We are looking for a Frontend Developer to lead the development of high-end, visually stunning, and high-performing websites. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on crafting pixel-perfect, fast-loading, SEO-optimised websites that deliver seamless user experiences. While some back-end experience is beneficial, this is a frontend-first role, focusing primarily on responsive website development, headless CMS integration (ButterCMS, Contentful, etc.), WordPress customisation, and performance optimisation.
As a Frontend Developer, you will be responsible for building, optimising, and maintaining websites that elevate Phantom Hire’s digital presence. You’ll work closely with designers, marketers, and stakeholders to ensure every website is fast, scalable, and visually engaging while following the latest front-end technologies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Develop high-performance, mobile-first websites using modern front-end technologies.
- Create engaging, SEO-optimised, and accessible website experiences with an emphasis on speed and user experience.
- Implement and manage headless CMS platforms (e.g., ButterCMS, Contentful, Strapi) to enable dynamic content updates.
- Customise and maintain WordPress websites, including theme development and plugin integration.
- Optimise websites for Core Web Vitals, page speed, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Work with APIs and third-party services to integrate external functionalities.
- Ensure best practices in responsive design, typography, animations, and user interactions.
- Deploy and maintain websites on cloud hosting platforms (Vercel, Netlify, AWS, DigitalOcean, cPanel).
- Stay ahead of industry trends in website development, SEO, and front-end technologies.
- 3+ years of professional front-end website development experience.
- Strong proficiency in: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), Modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or similar), Headless CMS solutions (ButterCMS, Contentful, Strapi, or similar), WordPress theme customisation & plugin integration.
- Expertise in website performance optimisation, Core Web Vitals, and SEO-friendly development.
- Experience with responsive design frameworks (Tailwind, Bootstrap, SCSS, Styled Components, etc.).
- Knowledge of version control (Git) and modern deployment workflows.
- Familiarity with server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG) with Next.js or similar frameworks is a plus.
- Basic understanding of back-end integrations (REST APIs, GraphQL, Python, PHP, or Node.js) is beneficial but not required.
- Experience with headless CMS-powered content websites.
- Deep understanding of UX/UI principles and website accessibility standards.
- Experience working on conversion-focused marketing websites and landing pages.
- Ability to collaborate with designers, copywriters, and SEO specialists to optimise content for engagement and rankings.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and tracking scripts implementation.
