Finance Manager UK (London Area)

Mustard is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Finance Manager to join our growing team. As Finance Manager – UK at Mustard, you\’ll be at the heart of our UK and European finance function, managing day-to-day bookkeeping, ensuring accurate compliance, and working hand-in-hand with our external accountant to meet all statutory requirements. You\’ll lead the UK delivery of our finance processes, providing timely data and analysis to support commercial decision-making across our growing global business.This role is ideal for a detail-driven, fully qualified finance professional who\’s excited by the pace and variety of a fast-scaling global e-commerce brand. Take ownership of finance operations in a fast-growing global e-commerce brand Work on exciting projects that directly impact customers around the world Collaborate with passionate teams who love what they do We\’re a start-up, be part of a journey where your ideas can shape the futureWhat you\’ll be doingBookkeeping + Month-EndMaintain accurate bookkeeping in Xero for UK and European operations, ensuring transactions are correctly coded and documentedEnsure a timely month-end close and deliver clean books for the Head of Finance to prepare management accountsCoordinate accruals, prepayments, and journals with the Head of Finance oversightFinalise year-end close and ensure financial records are complete and audit-readyMonitor data flows from Shopify and our Inventory Management System (CIN7) into Xero to ensure consistency and accuracyCompliance + External AccountingLiaise with the UK accountant to ensure timely and accurate VAT filings (UK and EU)Collate and provide documentation for import VAT and cross-border EU salesAssist with the preparation of statutory accounts and the corporation tax return, ensuring accurate data handoverCoordinate with the UK accountant on tax, compliance and reconciliation regularlyMaintain compliance-ready finance records and provide timely responses to accounting queriesCollaborate with the Australian Business Operations Manager to ensure global consistency in finance practicesAccounts Payable + ReceivableProcess and reconcile supplier invoices and staff reimbursementsPrepare weekly payment runs and maintain cashflow visibilityOversee wholesale debtor management and follow-up with the sales team on overdue accounts receivable – UK, Europe and USA. Assist in the setup of new supplier and customer accounts, ensuring proper documentationPayroll + BankingOversee monthly UK payroll in coordination with the external accountantReview pension scheme submissions and payroll journalsConduct bank and credit card reconciliations regularlyMonitor FX exposures and support the Head of Finance in assessing implicationsReporting + CollaborationSupport the preparation of monthly management accounts and performance commentaryProvide ad hoc analysis and financial data for the wider teamMonitor financial controls and workflows for efficiency and risk mitigationContribute to process improvement initiatives, system optimisation, and documentation of workflowsAlign with the Head of Finance on commercial priorities and budgeting needs across departmentsAssist in consolidating data across multiple currencies and markets (UK, EU, US, AU) for group-level reportingHello, is it you we\’re looking for?You\’re a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA)You have at least 3 years\’ post-qualification experience in a hands-on finance role, ideally with exposure to international operationsYou\’re confident working independently, liaising with external accountants, and keeping financial operations accurate and on trackYou have a strong understanding of UK VAT and EU intra-community salesYou\’re experienced with Xero and comfortable using cloud-based finance systemsYou\’re competent in Excel or Google Sheets and confident working with multiple currenciesYou\’ve worked in an e-commerce, retail, or inventory-based businessYou have excellent attention to detail and communicate clearly and professionallyYou\’re highly organised and motivated to meet deadlines and maintain high standardsYou\’ve used Shopify or are keen to learnYou enjoy improving workflows and spotting opportunities to make things more efficientThe important stuffHOME Flexible working hoursHybrid office schedule (3 days in-office)Paid personal + carers leaveWORK Named in The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For 2025Competitive salary based on experience (£52-£55k DOE)Colourful office space in Camden NW1All tools and tech you could needYour own personal and professional development budgetListed in The Times Fastest Growing Companies in the UK in 2023#3 in The Times Best Companies To Watch Out For 2022Immediate start to the right candidatePLAY 22 days holiday (plus bank holidays)Plus an extra day for your birthday!
