Remote | 3-Month Contract | Hyperledger Besu | Sustainability Tech
I'm currently working with a forward-thinking organisation in the clean technology sector, seeking an experienced Blockchain Developer for a 3-month contract to build the foundational infrastructure of a carbon offset tokenisation system on Hyperledger Besu.
This role involves designing and delivering a secure, permissioned blockchain network and developing smart contracts for the minting, verification, and retirement of tokenised carbon credits. You’ll take the lead from network configuration through to testnet deployment and audit readiness, collaborating with a small, agile team committed to sustainability and decentralised innovation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing ERC-20/1155-compatible smart contracts with embedded metadata (e.g., project ID, vintage year, verification body).
- Setting up a multi-node Besu network using IBFT 2.0 or QBFT consensus.
- Building minting and retirement APIs integrated with off-chain MRV (Measurement, Reporting & Verification) data.
- Delivering end-to-end functionality alongside comprehensive, audit-ready documentation.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience with Solidity, Hyperledger Besu, and Web3 tooling, as well as a good understanding of carbon markets or environmental data systems.
This contract offers the chance to work on a high-impact sustainability project, with flexible remote working and the potential for extension or a leadership role in future phases.
