Counsellors on Placement provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organisation aligned with the BACP ethical framework, counsellors are dedicated to improving mental health and well-being. We support counsellors with regular supervision, tailored training workshops, and a well-recognised clinical placement. Induction and daily clinical supervision are provided.
Availability of at least one day per week for one-to-one counselling with up to 3 children is required. Placements are term-time only for one academic year, with opportunities for extension. Optional workshops are available for CPD recognition. Sessions count as clinical hours towards professional accreditation, recognised by BACP and UKCP. Many staff members began as placements, making this a stepping stone into a career with Place2Be. Openings are available in primary and secondary schools nationwide.
Counting your hours
All clinical hours can contribute towards accreditation with bodies like BACP and UKCP. Verify with your course tutor if child hours are accepted for your course. If not, you may consider this as a second placement for experience.
Diversity and Inclusion
Place2Be is committed to equal opportunities and encourages applications from all backgrounds, especially Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities. We also seek to attract male candidates to reflect community diversity. Successful applicants will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS/PVG check. Please apply for only one vacancy, as location preferences can be changed later.
