Placement counsellors provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organization committed to the BACP ethical framework, our counsellors are dedicated to improving mental health and well-being. We offer regular supervision, tailored training workshops, and a well-recognized clinical placement. Comprehensive induction and daily clinical supervision are provided. Availability for at least one day per week is required to work with up to three children in one-to-one counselling sessions. Placements are term-time only for one academic year, with opportunities for extension. Participants can attend up to six optional CPD workshops annually. Sessions count as clinical hours towards professional accreditation with BACP and UKCP. This placement can serve as a pathway to employment within Place2Be, as many staff started as placement counsellors. Positions are available in primary and secondary schools nationwide. Counting your hours Clinical hours gained on placement can contribute towards accreditation. Please verify with your course tutor if child hours are accepted for your specific course. If not, you may consider applying for a second placement for experience. About You You must be a fully qualified Counsellor, Therapist, or Clinical Psychologist, or studying towards one of these at the following levels: Diploma in Counselling (Level 4 or above), or a full academic year Certificate Course in Counselling if in your first year. Degree, MSc, or MA in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or Psychotherapy, with relevant experience if in your first year.
