P&L Recruitment are working exclusively with a Global SME based in Finnieston, to recruit a full-time permanent Finance Assistant. This role is responsible for delivering accurate and timely transactional finance support, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, ensuring accurate processing and strong financial controls while supporting project financial tracking and the month-end close. This role would suit an Accountancy Graduate as it offers an excellent foundation for progression within accounting and finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process purchase invoices, ensuring accuracy, correct coding, and timely approval
  • Process employee expenses and supplier payments
  • Maintain supplier and customer master data, including bank details that have gone through appropriate verification
  • Raise sales invoices, post cash receipts, reconcile customer accounts and support credit control activity
  • Support bank allocations and control account reconciliations, and monitor cash flow positions
  • Monitor finance inboxes/workflows, ensuring queries are logged, prioritised and resolved within agreed timescales
  • Timesheet management and coordination, including actively tracking and collating weekly/monthly timesheets from all staff
  • Review all timesheets for accuracy and completeness, ensuring correct project codes, hours, and descriptions are used
  • Maintain timesheet system – set up new users and project codes, configure approval workflows
  • Compare actual hours recorded on timesheets against forecasted/budgeted hours for specific projects or departments

Skills required:

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts role
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail and excellent communication
  • Familiarity with Accountancy software (e.g. Sage 50)
  • Proficiency and confidence in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, and reconciliations)
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
