Are you an experienced Employment Tax professional looking for your next step? We have an exciting opportunity for an Employment Tax Senior to join PKF Smith Cooper, a top 13 UK accountancy and business advisory firm. Working closely with a growing tax team, you will support a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs and large corporates, providing employment tax compliance and advisory services across a wide range of sectors. This role offers excellent exposure to a variety of employment tax matters, including PAYE, National Insurance, benefits and expenses, Employment Status/off-payroll working, CIS, short-term business visitors and HMRC enquiries. You will work directly with clients, liaise with HMRC, support the delivery of advisory projects and collaborate with specialists across the wider tax team. The ideal candidate will have around 3-4 years' experience within employment tax and be looking to broaden their technical knowledge while continuing to develop client-facing and advisory skills.
The Important Work You Will Be Doing
- Assisting with the delivery of employment tax compliance and advisory services to a varied client portfolio
- Supporting PAYE health checks, employment status reviews and National Minimum Wage reviews
- Advising clients on benefits and expenses, including P11D, mandatory payrolling benefits in kind (BIK) and PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) reporting requirements
- Supporting clients with their globally mobile population including preparing globally mobile employee (GME) notifications and short term business visitors (STBV) reporting
- Assisting with HMRC enquiries, investigations and correspondence
- Supporting clients with employment tax implications of business changes, acquisitions and restructures
- Working closely with colleagues across corporate tax and private client tax teams
- Preparing technical research and draft reports for senior review
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships and providing day-to-day support on employment tax matters
- Identifying opportunities to add value and improve client outcomes
- Coaching and developing junior members of the team
The Skills And Experience You Will Bring
- Approximately 3-4 years' experience within employment tax, ideally gained in practice
- ATT qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience
- Good understanding of PAYE, benefits and expenses, National Insurance and employment status legislation
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- A proactive approach to problem solving and client service
- A willingness to develop technical knowledge and take on increasing responsibility
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- A positive attitude and desire to contribute to the growth of the team and wider firm
