Do you enjoy maths, solving problems and working with people? Are you in Year 13 and wondering what comes next after sixth form or college? If you'd like to continue learning but also start earning, our Business Services Apprenticeship could be the perfect next step. Instead of going to university full-time, you'll gain a salary, work towards professional qualifications and build valuable experience from day one.
At PKF Smith Cooper, you'll join a leading Midlands-based accounting and advisory firm that invests heavily in developing future talent. In fact, several of our Partners and Directors started their careers as apprentices, so you'll be joining a business where progression is genuinely possible and where you'll have the opportunity to build a long-term career all the way through to becoming a qualified Chartered Accountant.
About the role
We're looking for an Apprentice Business Services Associate to join our Ashbourne office. You'll become part of a friendly and supportive team, working with a wide range of businesses across different sectors. No two days are quite the same, and you'll quickly start to learn how businesses operate while developing skills that will stay with you throughout your career. As part of the apprenticeship, you'll study towards your AAT qualification while gaining practical experience in the workplace. You'll be supported every step of the way by your team, your manager and our Learning & Development Team, who will help you balance work, study and your professional development.
But life at PKF Smith Cooper is about more than just work and exams. We have a welcoming and inclusive culture, with plenty of opportunities to get involved across the firm. From team socials, charity events and sports competitions to wellbeing initiatives and company-wide celebrations, there are lots of ways to meet new people, build friendships and make the most of your apprenticeship experience.
The important work you will be doing
From the beginning, you'll be involved in real client work, helping our team support businesses with their accounting, financial reporting and business advisory needs. You'll gain experience working with a variety of clients, from ambitious start-ups and family-owned businesses to larger, well-established organisations. Along the way, you'll develop an understanding of how businesses operate, build your confidence working directly with clients, and learn the skills needed for a successful career in accountancy. As your experience grows, so will your responsibilities. You'll assist with preparing accounts, reviewing financial information, supporting client queries, and helping businesses make informed financial decisions. We'll give you the support, training and opportunities needed to help you progress from apprentice to qualified Chartered Accountant, building a rewarding career with us along the way.
