Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with autism?
We are looking for caring, patient, and enthusiastic Autism Support Assistants to join schools across the Sheffield S2 area.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) to access learning, develop social and communication skills, and build confidence within a supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with autism.
Support pupils in the classroom and during social activities.
Assist with implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning strategies.
Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation using consistent approaches.
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to ensure pupils receive the best possible support.
Promote independence, inclusion, and personal development.
Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with autism, SEND, or additional needs is desirable but not essential.
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
A willingness to learn and undertake relevant training.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
