PK Education are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to support students with autism spectrum disorder within a specialist resource provision attached to a mainstream secondary school in the Pontefract area. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils who access learning both within the specialist provision and mainstream classroom settings.

The Role

  • You will support secondary age students with Autism and additional learning needs, helping them engage with their education and develop independence.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting students within the resource provision
  • Assisting pupils when integrating into mainstream lessons
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Encouraging confidence, independence and engagement
  • Supporting behaviour and emotional regulation strategies

The Ideal Candidate

  • We are looking for individuals who:
  • Have experience working with SEND / Autism / SEMH
  • Are confident supporting secondary age students
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Have experience in education, youth work, coaching, care or support roles
  • Are passionate about helping young people succeed
