We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join a dynamic secondary school in Doncaster on a long-term temporary basis, starting as soon as possible. This is a full-time role, supporting the Science Department to ensure the smooth running of lessons and practical experiments across KS3 and KS4. This position is ideal for someone with previous experience working in a school laboratory setting or a science-based background looking to contribute to a supportive and forward-thinking educational environment. Key Responsibilities As a Science Technician, you will be expected to: Prepare and set up equipment and materials for practical science lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Ensure laboratories are well-stocked, safe, and properly maintained in line with health and safety standards (CLEAPSS guidance). Support teaching staff during practical science lessons when required. Clean and store laboratory equipment appropriately after use. Assist in the development of practical science resources. Manage chemical stock levels, including safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances. Conduct regular safety checks of lab equipment and maintain accurate records. Support the implementation of health and safety procedures and ensure compliance with COSHH regulations. Assist with administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventories. Occasionally assist with science-related displays or school events. Requirements To be considered for this role, you will need: Previous experience working as a Science Technician (preferred) or a strong scientific background (e.g. degree in a science subject or relevant vocational qualification). Good understanding of health and safety practices in a laboratory setting. Familiarity with COSHH and CLEAPSS guidance Excellent organisational and time management skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one prior to starting. Eligibility to work in the UK. Desirable but Not Essential Previous experience working in a secondary school environment. First Aid or Health and Safety training.
