PK Education are working in partnership with a number of specialist SEND schools and alternative provisions across Newcastle and the surrounding areas, who are looking to recruit dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants for long-term roles starting in September. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs while gaining valuable experience in supportive and rewarding educational settings.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in helping students achieve both academically and personally. You will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, working closely with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
You may be supporting pupils with:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Complex Learning Difficulties
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- ADHD
- Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties
- Sensory and Physical Needs
Your Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support
- Assist with personalised learning programmes
- Support communication, social interaction and emotional development
- Promote confidence, independence and positive behaviour
- Implement behaviour support strategies where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider support teams
- Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment

- Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND in schools, care settings, youth work or similar environments
- Are patient, caring, resilient and adaptable
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Are passionate about helping young people reach their full potential
- Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
