We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Head of Mathematics to join a specialist SEN secondary school in Northumberland on a full-time, ongoing basis with an immediate start available. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Maths teacher and strong leader to join a supportive SEN setting, leading the Maths department while supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging Maths lessons, overseeing the Maths curriculum, and supporting the development of teaching and learning across the department. The school supports pupils with a variety of SEN needs, therefore experience within SEN settings or a strong understanding of differentiated learning and behaviour management would be highly beneficial.
The Role:
- Leading the Maths department within the school
- Planning and delivering engaging Maths lessons across Key Stages
- Supporting and developing the Maths curriculum
- Monitoring pupil progress and attainment
- Managing behaviour positively and effectively
- Working collaboratively with senior leadership and teaching staff
- Supporting pupils with a range of SEN needs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Previous experience teaching Maths at secondary level
- Experience in a leadership role or as Head of Department desirable
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Experience within SEN settings advantageous
- A passion for supporting young people with additional needs
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
