PK Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated Early Intervention Therapeutic Worker to join a supportive SEND setting in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience supporting vulnerable young people who is passionate about helping learners overcome barriers to education and achieve positive outcomes.
Working closely with students who may present with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, you will provide therapeutic and emotional support, helping to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing therapeutic and emotional support to pupils with additional needs
- Building positive and trusting relationships with vulnerable learners
- Supporting behaviour intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
- Promoting positive engagement, wellbeing, and personal development
- Supporting students to access learning and achieve their individual targets
- Contributing to a trauma-informed approach across the setting
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable)
- A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Experience with behaviour intervention and de-escalation strategies
- A background in youth work, mentoring, support work, or similar roles
- Previous therapeutic support experience
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
