PJA is looking for Drainage specialists to support the continuing success of our growing Water Team - we are recruiting Nationwide for these positions. We are a friendly team of specialist consultants working to deliver holistic water management solutions for our clients, working across all aspects of the water sector including, but not exclusive to, flood risk, surface water management, foul water management, water quality, water resources (efficiency/neutrality) and hydraulic modelling.

  • A passion for green-blue infrastructure, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), nature-based solutions.
  • Be able to (or learn to) actively promote sustainable drainage solutions within our work.
  • Be able to interpret existing information, drawings and modelling data and scope surveys to facilitate the delivery of sustainable solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience of applying policy and guidance, ideally including:
  • Sewers for Adoption 7th Edition, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Code of Adoption Agreement
  • The SuDS Manual (CIRIA C753) and National Standards for SuDS
  • The Water Industry Act, Flood & Water Management Act, Land Drainage Act etc.
  • Knowledge and experience of software application, ideally including:
    • AutoCAD
    • GIS.
  • Knowledge of designing and delivering preliminary/concept and detailed drainage solutions.
  • Experience working in collaboration with key stakeholders, typically comprising Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities, Local Communities, Canal & River Trust, Internal Drainage Boards etc.
  • Understanding of the interdependencies of your work to other aspects of the water sector, in particular with regard to flood risk, water quality and water resources.
  • Have understanding of CDM regulations, including ability to prepare design risk assessments.
  • Strong academic background in a relevant science discipline (e.g. a degree in Civil Engineering, or a relevant higher education qualification) and/or extensive experience in a similar position.
  • Potential to expand your existing technical knowledge across the wider water sector.
