We are looking to recruit a Development Infrastructure Engineer to support the continuing success of our Birmingham office.

Duties and responsibilities

The candidate will provide design expertise and support on a wide range of commercial and residential projects ensuring designs are prepared in accordance with current legislation, best practice, council policies and to the highest technical standards.

Our ideal candidate

  • Ideally have a degree in civil engineering or similar with 4 years’ relevant postgraduate experience.
  • A good knowledge of highway design, and drainage.
  • Knowledge and experience of highway design standards – DMRB and Manual for Streets.
  • Experience in the design of both commercial and residential developments including infrastructure, external works and drainage.
  • Knowledge and experience of highway and drainage adoption processes and legal requirements for S278, S38 and S104.
  • Knowledge and experience of earthworks strategies.
  • Experience of meeting attendance to discuss issues with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities and other statutory bodies.
  • Working towards a professional qualification i.e. Incorporated or Chartership.

They will also have

  • Good understanding and use of software packages including AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Site 3D and Flow.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to maintain good records.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.

  • Take reasonable care for your own safety, whether on or off site, and those around you who may be affected by your acts or omissions.
  • Co‑operate with the company in achieving Health and Safety standards where relevant and as directed.
  • Report to your manager any actual or potential risks, accidents or dangerous occurrences that you identify in the workplace in line with company policy.
